Description: This powerful little malagan head comes from a frieze originally made for Julius Chan (PNG Prime minister) and has a really intense stare that seems to look at you from all sorts of angles. It has a great presence that only a master carver can produce when making something with a purpose. The ears have been damaged and reglued back on, as have the tips of the headpiece, there is a large stable crack down on one side, and the natural pigments are still bright.
